why does my guitar sound different?

Thats the site of no surprise by chris daughtry with a video to go along with the chords but when i play those chords my guitar sounds different. did the person in the video tune his guitar to different notes>??? if he did can someone help me find out what he tuned them to or why my electric guitar doesnt play the same note sounds
