6th grade drama class
The elementary school students love to share their talents and, basically, 'display'. Teachers have found a multitude of ways in which they share their talents and knowledge through Science Fairs, History Workshop, plays, musical programs, spelling bees and many other things, but have rarely done anything different PE skills for sports.
Science teachers use science fairs to showcase the skills of science and knowledge. History and Social Science History Day teachers developed so that students can show their knowledge and skills in area history. Music teachers as in music and drama teachers we have to show those skills. Primary teachers use a variety of the above.
What a Professor of Education Physics? The sport is different than Physical Education. Some parents believe that physical education in school is only playing time. Perhaps it is in some schools, but in many schools is a time to teach students different skills. It is a time to be active, a time to learn about different sports, a time to exercise and increased coordination skills. So after a year of teaching all these skills, why not show these skills and parents of their students show what they can do. I think this is a great idea as it will give parents a better appreciation of what physical education teachers across the country are doing.
These physical education teachers not only teach the class teaches students a break or a break from work book. They are trying to instill in students a desire to be active and healthy. They are trying to teach the skills and activities they can use beyond high school.
Physical education teachers in primary school case could demonstrate what they have been teaching their students as young as the first grade. By the time students reach 6th graders who have learned enough that the teacher could also include a section where students can show the skills they have learned elsewhere. Such as: in the gym classes, dance classes, all different sports and activities just plain fun like a game of tag. Anything that shows assets, happy students.
PE teachers have the opportunity and show what has been teaching and leave students to demonstrate all the skills they have learned. Actually it could be fun. Put the audience on stage and have the students use the gym floor as its stage. During the different skills and routines are a couple of games where parents can come and have a good time with them. This was a real winner, when we did. We had parents in shorts and suits, dresses and work clothes on the floor having fun with the student. It was a real success
