What would be the most likely components of a desktop (tower) Compaq Presario to burn? It turns on / 7 years old

This is the first time I've never had a burn on my computer, but I doubt it, since it is the largest reserve unit in my house that is left for long periods. Power supply is probably shot. Go to Newegg.com and buy another for $ 20-40 depending on brand and how much they are worth to you. Do not go around and pay too much, since it is an old system. Make sure that the same or better specifications. You do not need a 500w supply if you replace a 250W supply. They are very easy to install yourself.
